I was gifted Bourbon Vanilla - that's when my interest peaked - I can make my own Vanilla Extract. Here I use Vodka. You can use bourbon, rum or vodka.

Instructions
Use WHOLE vanilla beans - and it will take 6 to 12 months for the vanilla extract. OR Slice the vanilla beans with scissor or knife halved along their length for vanilla extract to be ready in 3 months.
Put the vanilla beans into the bottle, then cover with your choice of alcohol.
Store in a cool, dry and dark location for 3 months. You can do longer like 6 to 12 months for a fuller taste.
It's really that easy. You can reuse your vanilla beans 3-5 times for vanilla extract.
