Why Did my Pecan Gluten-free Pie Crust fall apart?
This Gluten-free Pie is easy cause you just press it into the pie pan and its good. If it seems a bit dry then add a touch more butter or oil. The Pecans need to be blended to breakup the pecans into smaller pieces but also release the oils making it a great binder!

YumGluten-free Pecan Pie Crust
Ingredients
Preheat oven at 350oF or 175oC.
- 1/2 cup rolled oats Grinded – Gluten-free. Or 1/2 cup of oat flour
- 1/3 cup unsweetened shredded coconut
- 1 1/3 cup raw pecans grind – slightly on pulse – We don't want nut butter! Just finer pecans
- 2 tsp ground flax or other seeds optional, will help bind it! And add Fiber!
- 1/2 tbsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp sea salt or himalayan salt
- 2 tbsp maple syrup
- 1 tbsp coconut oil or butter. Can be firm or melted.
Instructions
- Preheat oven at 350oF or 175oC.
- Grind separate oats for oat flour, and pecans pulse in food processor to make smaller pieces that can be formed with fingers but stop before nut butter.
- In a medium bowl, mix all ingredients together.
- Butter the pie pan, then sprinkle with gluten-free flour.
- Press mixture into pie pan structure.
- Bake 10 minutes till light golden brown, this is the pre-bake. Check, if there is moisture in the bottom of the crust, add on 2 minutes of baking.
- Take out and let it cool.
- Then add your pie filling and bake as per recipe.
